Lydia Rochelle Otten, 28, of Sedalia, went to be with the Lord, Friday, July 20, 2012.  She was born on March 12, 1984, in Columbia, MO, a daughter of Mark and Gay Otten, of Otterville; and Larry and Kathy (McDonald) Drake, of Latham area.

 

She enjoyed music, singing, and loved animals. She liked to play softball, participate in MMA fighting, but ultimately loved spending time with friends and family. Lydia worked for 5 years at Sierra Bullets, but found her passion in the health care industry.  She was a very loving and compassionate person who enjoyed caring for the elderly. Lydia was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church, Sedalia. She rededicated her life to the Lord earlier this year.

 

Besides her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Ashley Edwards, of Syracuse; four brothers, Eli Elmlinger and his wife Illene, of Kirksville, Calvin Drake and his wife Tricia, of Syracuse, Uriah Otten, of Clifton City, and Isaiah Otten, of Otterville; four sisters, Erica Rennison and her husband Richard, of Sweet Springs, Dara Pacheco and her husband Brent, of Kansas City, Tara Alaumbaugh and her husband Brian, of Tipton, and Shanna Drake, of Syracuse; grandparents, Bob and Marty Walkington.

 

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Earl and Kathryn McDonald; paternal grandparents, Calvin and Laverne Otten; and grandparents, Tom and Isa May Drake Sr.

 

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 pm, Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Rev. Robert Sisney officiating.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel from 4:30 to 6:30 prior to the service.

 

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ashley Edwards Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral chapel.
