Norma E. Bentzin, 90, of Otterville, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 after her 90th birthday. She was born on March 9, 1923 in Malta, MT, the daughter of Olie and Ella (Peterson) Lefdahl.


In 1942, in Malta, MT, she married Dr. R.V. Bentzin, who preceded her in death 1983.

 

Norma is survived by son Don (Lois) Bentzin of Chula Vista, CA; son Robert (Debbie) Bentzin of Otterville, MO; daughter, Luane "Tweedy" Bentzin of Four Seasons Rest Home in Sedalia; her sisters, Marcella Evenson of Placentia, CA and Luane Stadstad of Grand Forks, ND; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

 

Norma and Doc moved from Malta, MT after marriage and Doc did his internship in Dillon, MT. They moved to and had practices in Fallon, NV, Austin, NV, Mesquite, NV and St. Louis, MO. They ended their moves in Otterville, MO, where Doc had his practice for 30 years and where Norma started her beauty salon. They both had their office/shop/home in the old Otterville Hotel. Norma loved all those in her family and enjoyed friends wherever she lived.  She also loved going to garage sales, auctions, and enjoyed refinishing antique furniture. She was active in the Otterville Senior Center. The last year and a half, Norma lived in the Rest Haven Home, Sedalia.

 

Norma’s body will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to The Otterville Senior Center, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.


There will be no services.

Bonnie Lou Wilken, 84, of Sedalia passed peacefully to be with the Lord on March 16, 2013 at University Medical Center in Columbia, MO.

 

She was born on February 8, 1929, in rural Crawford County IA, the daughter of Raymond A. and Opal (Walworth) Crampton.


She attended schools in rural Crawford County and graduated from Wall Lake Iowa High School in1946. She attended Normal school and taught school for three years. In May of 1949, in Wall Lake, IA, she married Paul J. Wilken, who survives of the home. The couple farmed in the Crawford and Sac County Iowa areas until they settled south of Sedalia in 1971. Bonnie worked in retail for several years and volunteered at Open Door. She was an active member of: Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sedalia, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Quilters and the card clubs at church.


She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Don and an infant son, Neil.


Besides her husband she is survived by, one daughter Nancy (Russell) Shewmaker of Jonesboro, AR; two sons, Charles (Deborah) Wilken of Chanute ,KS and Bill (Debra) Wilken of Cole Camp, MO; nine grandchildren; two great  grandchildren; two brothers, Herb and Bob Crampton, and one sister Eula Mae Freese.


Services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Our Savior Lutheran Church Sedalia, MO.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.


Memorials are suggested to, The Radio Ministry of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sedalia, Mo.

Lawrence William Kempf, 83, of Sedalia, passed away, March 12, 2013 at Katy Manor Nursing Home, Pilot Grove, MO.  He was born on January 12, 1930, in Clear Creek, MO, a son of John Kempf and Emma Newman.

 

On July 15, 1954 in Pilot Grove, MO he was united in marriage to Patricia Braden, who survives of the home.

 

He served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. Lawrence was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service, Sedalia office from 1959-1985.  He enjoyed being outdoors: hunting, fishing, hauling fruit and gardening.  He loved to cook and have Sunday family dinners.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and former member of Moose Lodge 1494, Sedalia.

 

He is survived by five children, Carl (Marsha) Kempf, Robert (Laura) Kempf, Chris Kempf, James Kempf and Michael Kempf, all of Sedalia; two sisters, Loretta Kempf of Pilot Grove and Dorothy Young of Salsibury; seventeen grandchildren, Jill, Andrew, Joanne, Alisha, Tyler, Kaytlin, Chastity, Samantha, Hannah, Aaron, Angie, Brittany, Nikki, Brittni, Kyle, Blake, Jessie and eight great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alice Blank; and three brothers, Ben, Edward and Carl Kempf.

 

Rosary and prayer service will be conducted at 5:30 pm, Friday, March 15, 2013 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.  Family will receive friends following from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

 

Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Parrish or School of Sedalia in care of the funeral chapel.

Lorenz Viebrock PDF Print E-mail

Lorenz Edgar Viebrock, 86, passed away Thursday morning, March 7, 2013 at
Brookhaven Nursing Center in Carrollton, TX.  He had been living in Carrollton
since March, 2012 after moving there from Sedalia to be cared for by his
daughter, Betty.  He was born in rural Stover, Missouri on September 3, 1926,
the eighth child of Henry and Louise Koch Viebrock, both of whom preceded him in
death. 

 

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Agnes V. Fischer, Albert
Viebrock, Josephine V. Bockelman, Elroy Viebrock, Clara V. Klein, Alma V.
Holtzen, Harry Viebrock and Leon Viebrock.


On January 28, 1946, he married Geneva L. Weinberg, in Lenexa, Kansas, who
preceded in him death on November 8, 2010.


Lorenz lived his most of his life in the Morgan and Pettis County areas where he
was an avid gardener.  He maintained a large vegetable garden and supplied many
Sedalians with tomatoes, corn and green beans over the years.  He also grew many
dahlias and roses at his home.  He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church for over 40 years until moving to Texas in 2012.


Survivors include his daughter, Betty L. McMullin, and her husband, Alec of
Lewisville, TX; a son, Garry W. Viebrock, of Jefferson City, MO; four
grandchildren: Shelley Embry and husband, Lawrence, of Dallas, TX; Brian
McMullin and wife, Laetatia, of The Woodlands, TX, and Kaitlin and Lindsey
Viebrock, of Jefferson City, MO.  He is also survived by six great-children:
Caroline and Cullen Embry, of Dallas, TX, and Alexandra, Olivia, Eliza and
Lillie McMullin, of The Woodlands, TX. 

 
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 11, at 9:00 a.m at Our Savior Lutheran
Church with funeral services to follow at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Chris Kellogg
officiating.  Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Cole Camp.


In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions are suggested to the Radio Ministry
of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sedalia.

Thomas H. Duppass, Jr., 44, of Sedalia passsed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 pm, Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, 4th & Osage, Sedalia.
