Ruth Marguerite (Myers) Kemp, 93, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday, February 17th, 2013 in her home.  Her sons David and Bruce were present in the home at the time.  Her death was pronounced at Bothwell Regional Health Center.  She was born on October 10th, 1919, at Gravois Mills, MO, the eldest daughter of Thomas Alfred and Dixie Elizabeth (Phillips) Myers.  With the flooding of the family home in the Ozarks, the Myers family settled on a farm in Greenridge.

On May 16th, 1949, she was united in marriage to Everett Kemp at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sedalia.  They enjoyed 27 happy and loving years together before he preceded her in death on May 31st, 1976.

She put herself through business school in Sedalia and worked for 40 years as an Accountant, first for Shirley Wagner CPA, then for Moore Horton CPA.  After her husband’s death, she accepted a job from Bill Cline as Chief Financial Officer at Kim Originals.  She worked there until she was eighty years old, retiring due to the onset of macular degeneration.

She was an excellent cook and liked to experiment with all sorts of recipes, baking being her specialty.  Always curious about the world, she was able to enjoy travel to the East and West Coasts and to Europe with her children.  She enjoyed the art museums, the 1980 Seattle World’s Fair, Paris and the Swiss Alps in particular.  Throughout her life, her favorite pastime for relaxation was reading, books and magazines, until macular degeneration made this too difficult.

She and Everett raised their young family at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Then the family moved to Sacred Heart Catholic Parish where Ruth remained a member for the rest of her life.

She is survived by three children:  Dixie (Kemp) Fasl of Brooklyn, NY; David Kemp of Sedalia; Bruce Kemp of Sedalia; and one grandson: Blake Kemp, currently a sophomore at the University of Oregon, Eugene, OR.
