Alma Mae Calkins, 86, of Sedalia passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Fair View Nursing Home in Sedalia. She was born on May 2, 1930 in Dedrick, MO the daughter of Thomas and Mamie (Hart) Smith, who preceded her in death.
In 1948 in Butler, MO, she was united in marriage to Wayne T. Borland, in this union they adopted a son, Matthew Borland, who resides in Sedalia, along with his wife Tonya (White) Borland.
In 1971 in Albuquerque, NM, she was united in marriage to Neil Calkins, who passed away in October of 2008.
Alma was an accomplished artist receiving awards at the New Mexico State Fair. She loved to go fishing and family was very important to her.
Alma is also survived by four step children, Clifford Calkins of Georgia, Cheryl Cordero (Steve) of Albuquerque, Mike Calkins (Carol) of Colorado and Kathy Cooney (Pat) of New Mexico; six grandchildren, Rob Walker (Samira), Elisia Krotzer (Eric), John Borland, Rachelle Linn (Dru), Zachary Borland and Julie Seiz; along with eight great grandchildren, Kolby and Brynn Borland, Max, Ben, Belle and Maggie Krotzer, Jaiden Linn and Preston Walker.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by two step sons, Philip Calkins and Kevin Calkins; four brothers and four sisters.
Private memorial services will be held at later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church in Sedalia in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
