Arthur David Brown Sr.

Arthur David Brown Sr., 76, of Sedalia, MO, formerly of Lincoln, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 4, 2024. He was born on August 12, 1947, in Arbor, MO, to Arthur Leo Brown and Pearl Grace (Wondell) Brown, both of whom preceded him in death.

Arthur dedicated many years of his life to his work as a lineman, contributing his skills to Co-Mo Electric of Tipton, MO, Marshall Power House in Marshall, MO, and concluding his career at Rural Electric Association in Sedalia before retiring in 1990. Post-retirement, Arthur followed his passion for antiques, opening several stores in Lincoln, MO. His love for collecting antiques was evident, and he delighted in tinkering with them.

An enthusiast of the great outdoors, Arthur found joy in fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was an avid sports fan, with a particular fondness for football, notably supporting the Chiefs and MU football teams. Arthur cherished the company of his companion, Shirley, and they shared many wonderful moments together, from dancing to enjoying Shirley's delicious homemade apple pies.

Arthur is survived by his three children, Dugan Layton of Sedalia, Dave Brown of Lincoln, MO, and Melissa Shelledy and her husband Justin of Sedalia. He leaves behind a legacy through eight grandchildren: Shania Vogler, Gunner Saulbeamer, Austin Shelledy, Corbyn Shelledy, Younger Layton, Jessi Layton, Taylor Brown, and Brawlin Brown, as well as four great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Brown; a brother, Benson Winkler; and two sisters, Pearline Copas and Geraldine Kohlman.

Funeral services to celebrate Arthur's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Aaron Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall, MO.

Honoring Arthur as pallbearers are Brawlin Brown, Younger Layton, Dave Brown, Dugan Layton, Justin Shelledy, and Danny Reberry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia Animal Shelter, care of Rea Funeral Chapel, to commemorate Arthur's love for animals.
