Peggy Mildred Potter, 87, of Sedalia, MO, passed away at her home on Monday, July 1, 2024. She was born on September 27, 1936, in Buffalo, KY, the daughter of Herbert Vance and Florence (Lee) Vance, who preceded her in death.
On September 7, 1957, in Indiana, she was united in marriage to Earnest D. Potter, Sr., who resides in the home.
Peggy Potter, known affectionately as Granny, lived a life filled with love and dedication to her family. From her early years on a tobacco farm in Kentucky to becoming a beloved matriarch, she embraced various roles with grace and strength. Peggy married young and raised her children, Kena Gwen and Earnie Jr., pouring her heart into motherhood and later relishing her roles as Nana and Grandma Potter to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and her husband, Earnest Sr., built a life together in Missouri, where they ran a farm and were active community members.
Peggy's faith was central throughout her life, and she remained deeply involved in Providence Baptist Church until her health declined. Despite facing challenges like Pulmonary Fibrosis and later a hip fracture, she continued to find joy in watching her family grow and thrive. Her final days were spent surrounded by loved ones, embodying strength and acceptance, as she peacefully passed away in her own home.
Peggy Potter's legacy is one of resilience, faith, and unconditional love-a testament to a life lived fully and with a profound impact on those around her.
In addition to her husband, Peggy is survived by a son, Earnest D. Potter, Jr. of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Adam Templeton (Jenn), Kyla Potter, Devin Squires (Paden), and Derick Templeton (Janice); eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Diane Creason (Norman) of Campbellsville, KY; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a daughter, Kena Gwen Templeton; two brothers, Carl Vance and Junior Vance; and a sister, Louella Junis.
