Betsy Lou Hoback, 82, of California, Missouri, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on June 29, 2026, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She was born on June 25, 1944, in East Chicago Heights, Illinois, the daughter of William Allen and Bernice (Dunstedter) Allen, who preceded her in death.
On October 26, 2006, in High Point, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Larry R. Hoback, who preceded her in death in April of 2024.
Betsy was a longtime member of High Point Baptist Church, where she faithfully served by teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and sharing her love for the Word of God. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found joy in encouraging others through her love for the Lord.
Betsy enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading her Bible, and working in her yard. She also treasured time spent with her family and friends, especially when gathered around the table playing cards and games. Her warmth, faith, and love for those around her will be deeply missed.
Betsy is survived by five children, Debbie Zucca of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tina Donahue (Mike) of Deport, Texas, Jeff Hanes (Jill) of Sedalia, Missouri, Mark Hanes of Neosho, Missouri, and Bob Hoback of California, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Charlie, Tabitha, Benjamin, Candice, Katy, Spencer, Tucker, Emma, Lydia, and Chloe; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Larry, Betsy was preceded in death by six siblings, Bonnie Allen, Barbara Hixon, Beverly Perrin, Bernice Deckard, Brenda Kaul, and Billy Allen.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at High Point Baptist Church in High Point, Missouri, with Pastor Glen Golden officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
