Bobby Joe Ross Jr.

Bobby "Bob" Joe Ross Jr., 64, of Sedalia, passed away at home on Thursday, June 19, 2025. He was born on September 4, 1960, in Sedalia, MO, the son of Bobby Joe Ross Sr. and Mary L. (Nakila) Ross, who preceded him in death.

On October 3, 1980, in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Joy L. Comfort, who resides in the home.

Bob was a proud graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, Class of 1978, where he actively participated in Judo competitions. In August 1982, he began working as a maintenance man for Kenny Rogers, handling various tasks both personally for Kenny and around the ranch, known as Beaver Dam Farms. In 1992, Bob joined the Oglethorpe County Sheriff's Department in Georgia, where he served as a Deputy Sheriff for 20 years.

Later, Bob and his wife, Joy, started a non-emergency transportation company in Georgia. Following that, he became an over-the-road truck driver, traveling thousands of miles across the country for three years.

Bob enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and appreciating nature. He also loved singing Christian music, and he and Joy had the opportunity to bless many church congregations in Georgia and Missouri with his incredible voice. Above all, Bob's greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Joy, Bob is survived by three children, Tom, Bobby, and Kurt Ross; two grandchildren, Derek and Valerie Ross; two sisters, Elizabeth Dillon and Debbie Hyde; three brothers, Darren Ross, Jimmy Ross and Ray Ross; his best friend, Russ Groshans; and many extended family.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by two sisters, BettyAnn Mueller and Charlene Viebrock.

A celebration of life gathering with family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
