Obituary For Byron Leroy Roberts

Byron Leroy Roberts, 82, of Edwards, MO passed away Monday, March 14, 2022, at Lee's Summit Medical Center in Lee's Summit, MO. He was born on April 14, 1939 in Sedalia, MO the son of Paul Edward Roberts Sr. and Georgetta Marie (Jackson) Roberts, who preceded him in death.

On June 28, 1979 in Harrisonville, MO, he was united in marriage to Sarah Jane Newcomer, who resides in the home.

Leroy served his country honorably in the United States Army and as a Army Reservists. He worked as a Maintenance/Mechanic for the Burlington-Santa Fe Railroad for 20 years, retiring in 2001. Leroy enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman with his brothers and sons. Leroy was passionate in his belief of the Holy Father and loved attending his church for worship.

Along with his wife, Jane, he is survived by a daughter, Tammy Gilio (Jack) of Kingsville, MO; a son, Joseph Dale Roberts (Teresa) of Sedalia; two step-sons, Steven Newcomer (Diane) of Michigan, and Barry Newcomer of Belton, MO; a step-daughter, Rebecca Newcomer (Randy) of Edwards, MO; 10 grandchildren, Anna, Ryan, Alex, Brent, Brandon, Joshua, Brooke, Brittani, Jamie, Jessica; 7 step-grandchildren, Kaycie, Sarah, Michael, Lynn, Thomas, Christy, and Jessica; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, Remington; two brothers, Dennis Roberts (Brenda) and Terry Roberts (Sherry) all of Sedalia; five sisters, Delores Maples of Sedalia, Alice Todd (Larry) of Boonville, Sue Roberts of Marshall, Virginia Roberts of La Monte, and Charlotte Ramey of Sedalia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bryon Roberts; a grandson, Bradley Roberts; a step-granddaughter, Amber Rene Newcomer; two brothers, Paul Roberts, Jr., Bobby Gene Roberts; and a sister, Rosalee Ramey .

There will be a Celebration of Life service announced by the family at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
