Caitlyn Paige Bedell, 27, of Ionia, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Caitlyn was born on August 4, 1998, in Sedalia, Missouri. She was the beloved daughter of Shawn R. Bedell and Stacey Lindsay of Ionia, and Candice Ann (Lehmann) Smith of Sedalia, Missouri.
Caitlyn was a proud graduate of Whittier High School, Class of 2016. During her school years, she was active in volleyball at Smith-Cotton High School, and she also enjoyed playing travel volleyball and recreational softball. Caitlyn had a deep love for animals, especially horses, dogs, and goats.
She was known for her giving and loving heart, always willing to help anyone in need. Caitlyn cherished time spent with her family and friends, especially during holidays and special occasions. She worked at Gardner Denver, where she was known for her uplifting spirit and her ability to brighten the day of those around her.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, Ryan Smith, Caitlyn is survived by two sisters, Jordyn Smith and Gracie Smith, both of Sedalia; a brother, Tyler Bedell of La Monte, Missouri; two stepsisters, Taylor Miller of Barnesville, Ohio, and Alisha Lindsay (Logan) of Ionia, Missouri; a stepbrother, Kyle Miller (Julie) of New York; her maternal grandfather, Harold Singleton of Clanton, Alabama; two nephews, Jaidyn and Sadien; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
Caitlyn was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Cheryl Lehmann; her paternal grandparents, Norman and Lavina Bedell; and an uncle, Troy Lehmann.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Rea Funeral ChapeL, with Bishop Paul Jones officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
Honorary bearers will be Jarett Ransdell, Alisha Lindsay, Kricket Dhorty, Savannah Derstein, Drae Marcum, and Katrinarae Oxford.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ream Rescue and Rehabilitation Ranch, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
