Carlyn J. Crawford, 92, of Sedalia, MO, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on February 25, 1933, in Pettis County, MO, the daughter of Willard Collins Sr. and Elizabeth (Arvieux) Collins, who preceded her in death.
On September 4, 1949, in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to Edwin R. "Dick" Crawford, who preceded her in death on July 20, 2015.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She lovingly cared for numerous grandchildren after school and during the summers. Carlyn worked for several businesses in Sedalia. She was employed for many years at Interstate Studios and later as a clerk at Roths and J.C. Penney in the Thompson Hills Shopping Center. She also enjoyed serving as a hostess at the Ramada Inn Restaurant, where her warm smile welcomed many.
Carlyn was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, in Sedalia. She lived a life filled with simple joys. Carlyn enjoyed her daily walks and weekly domino games with friends. With a gifted green thumb, she took pride in her flower gardens and houseplants. During the winter months, she created beautiful quilts for her family, a labor of love that will be treasured for generations. She also enjoyed traveling across the United States with her family, cherishing those adventures together.
She is survived by a son, Richard W. Crawford (Nancy) of Warsaw; two daughters, Darice C. Montgomery of Florence, MS, and Teresa Lynn Goss (Perry) of Iberia, MO; a daughter-in-law, Pam Ragar (Monte) of Warsaw; six grandchildren, Charles, Tyson, Dusty, Kirk, Luke, and Ian; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, William Collins; eight sisters, Margie Finedore, Lillian Dover, Nora Paul, Esther Dorweiler, Mary Ann Nissen, Judy Schneider, Betty Shapley, and Cathy Wilhoit; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, Carlyn was preceded in death by her son, Michael Crawford; granddaughter, Regan James; a sister, Evelyn Collins; and three brothers, Willard Collins Jr., Donald Collins, and Kenneth Collins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Jonathan Wallenbeck officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Crawford, Tyson Crawford, Dusty Crawford, Kirk Montgomery, Ely Crawford, and Bryce Crawford. Honorary bearers will be Luke Crawford-Goss, Ian Crawford-Goss, Lexi Crawford, and Ethan Crawford.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the donor's choice, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
