Caroline Louise Corpe

January 12, 1939 — April 27, 2025

Carol L. Corpe, 86, of Sedalia, MO, passed away at her home on April 27, 2025, in Sedalia. She was born on January 12, 1939, in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of Albert E. Bird and Mildred Alice (Chott) Bird, who preceded her in death.

On July 16, 1959, in Canton, OH, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Samuel "Sam" Salvatore Corpe, who preceded her in death on January 16, 2015.

Carol's love for her family was unparalleled, and she had a great passion for travel; some of her favorite destinations were Australia, New Zealand, and especially Italy. Carol adored dogs, particularly basset hounds. You might have seen her exercising her dogs while driving her golf cart on the golf course.

Carol worked in law enforcement for over 20 years, and the profession she valued most was dispatching for the Pettis County Sheriff's Department. She was actively involved in the Welcome Wagon, a member of the local Sorosis Club, and volunteered in the mentor program at Whittier School. Carol supported numerous charities, including St. Jude's, Habitat for Humanity, The Humane Society, ASPCA, Catholic Charities, and Tunnel to Towers-essentially, any charity accepting donations.

Her memory lives on in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as she played an active role in their activities and life skills. She sent them to Camp Blue Sky every year, cooked for and hosted family gatherings and holidays, and always found loving cards and gifts to celebrate seasons, achievements, and birthdays. Her husband, Sam, often said, "Carol is a world-class shopper." She also shared her creative and unique sense of humor with each and every one of us.

Carol is survived by five children, Tony Corpe (Valerie) of Sedalia, Gia Kuhns (Bart) of Sedalia, Nicci Funk (Kevin) of Lee's Summit, MO, Casey Wratchford of Liberty, MO, and Rocco Corpe (Jody) of Lake Ozark, MO; eight grandchildren, Justin, Christian, Talia, Hannah, Olivia, Samantha, Marley, Madden; two great-grandchildren, Hazel and Tripp.

Recitation of the rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, all at the St. Patrick Chapel of St. Vincent de Paul, 415 E. 4th St., Sedalia, MO, with Father Gregory Clever officiating.
