Carolyn V. Baker

Carolyn V. Baker, 82, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Friday, December 23, 2022, at Lee's Summit Medical Center in Lee's Summit, MO. She was born on November 21, 1940, in Sedalia, the daughter of Ophelia (Washington) Riley and William Cason; and her stepfather, Jesse Riley, all who preceded her in death.

Carolyn loved her church family and playing bingo. In addition, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her kids and grandkids. She was a very special lady who will be greatly missed by everyone who loved and cherished her.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Connie Rankin and Carman Jones; a son, Keith Baker; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; four brothers, Fred Washington (Sonny) Daniel Cason, Charles Cason, Paul Cason; nine sisters, Jessica Morse, Linda London, Jackie Cason, Patricia Knight (Patsy), Ruth Ivy (Tulie), Katie Clark, Rita Jones, Stephanie Mitchell, and Sarah Cason.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Baker; brothers, William Cason Jr., Randall Cason, Larry, Washington; sisters, Opheila "Mickey" Washington, Undra Nuwso, and Gloria "Maxine" Byrd.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Ward Memorial Baptist Church, in Sedalia, with Pastor John Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Honorary bearers will be Na'Jai Rankin, Darnell Baker, Keith Baker, Kelon Baker, Kelsey Jackson, and Justice Grant.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the family in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
