Carroll Stephen "Lucky" Luckey, 76, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Rest Haven Convalescent Home in Sedalia. He was born on September 12, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Carroll Messer Luckey and Pauline (Stengel) Luckey, who preceded him in death.

On January 25, 1980, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Elva Jay Burk, who preceded him in death on February 23, 2019.

Lucky was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sedalia and a member of Sedalia Masonic Lodge #242 AF & AM Sedalia.

Lucky had a lifelong love of cooking and worked as a restaurant cook for many years. He especially enjoyed sharing stories about the time he cooked at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville. Outside of the kitchen, Lucky enjoyed watching Western movies and was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley. He was also well known for his extensive collection of hats.

While living at Olsen West Apartments, Lucky enjoyed being involved in the lives of his neighbors and fellow residents. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it was calling Bingo, walking other residents' dogs, or simply being there when someone needed him.

His faith and community involvement were important parts of his life. Lucky was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sedalia, where he especially enjoyed singing in the church choir. He was a former member of Sedalia Masonic Lodge #242 AF & AM.

Lucky is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Mora of Sacramento, California; his stepson, Warren Trivett and his wife, Mary, of Sedalia; three children from a previous marriage; and other extended family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church, Thompson Site, in Sedalia, with Pastor Candace Fowler officiating, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Inurnment will take place at the Resurrection Garden at the First United Methodist Church Celebration Center in Sedalia.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association , in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
