Cathy Ann Wagner

Catherine "Cathy" Wagner, 72, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away suddenly at her home on October 14, 2026. She was born on July 1, 1954, the daughter of Forrest H. Wagner and Julia L. (Wallace) Wagner.

Cathy loved her family and friends dearly. Although she had no children of her own, she held a special place in the lives of her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved and supported throughout the years. She was more than an aunt, she was a confidante, a best friend, and, to some, a second mother.

Those who knew Cathy knew that one of her greatest pleasures was a trip to the casino. She could hold her own at the blackjack table and play the slots like nobody's business. If you went to the casino with Cathy, you knew you were in for the long haul, and would come home with a story to tell.

In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her eight siblings: Dorothy Gudenschwager, Margie Opfer, Nancy Barklage, Judy Clark, Patrick Wagner, James Wagner, Georgia Wallace Hunsaker, and Steve Wagner. She was also preceded in death by her niece, Karen Jones, and her nephew, Steven Opfer.

She is survived by her many beloved nieces and nephews and cherished friends, who will deeply miss her company, her laughter, and the love she shared. Her memory will live on through the countless stories and special moments treasured by those who knew her.

At Cathy's request, no funeral service will be held. Her family invites those who loved her to honor her memory by sharing a story, enjoying a laugh, and spending time with someone they love.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel in Sedalia, Missouri.
