Charles "Chuck" Joseph Wansing III, 55, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. He was born on May 1, 1971, in Sedalia, the son of Charles Joseph Wansing Sr. and Edna Mae (Self) Wansing, who preceded him in death.
Chuck met his soul mate in 1991, and later married in 1997, to Michelle Lee Hunsaker to fulfill their life of adventures together.
Chuck attended Sacred Heart High School and Smith-Cotton High School. He was a proud graduate of the Musicians Institute, Hollywood, California, Class of 1996. Chuck was a gifted musician and a natural storyteller. He loved sharing memories with family and friends, near and far, of the musicians he met, the places he traveled, and the many bands and groups that shaped him both musically and personally. Throughout his life, he had the pleasure of playing with and being influenced by many, including The Brink of Sedalia; Shadowed Fate of Kansas City, Missouri; Avenging Disco God Fathers of Hollywood, California; Cherry Wrench of Kansas City, Missouri; Circle of Friends of Knob Noster, Missouri; Universal Studios in Studio City, California; and many others who left a lasting impact on his life.
Chuck was also a lifetime member of Chez When, where he was raised and proudly worked alongside his family. He will be remembered for his love, knowledge, honesty, and the way he was always true to himself. He touched many lives simply by being real, rocking out every moment, and leaving behind stories that will be told for years to come. His everlasting flame will continue to burn in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, Michelle, Chuck is survived by his son, Charles J. Wansing IV and his wife, Robin, of Sedalia; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Chuck Wansing II and his wife, Michele, of Arizona, and David Wansing and his life friend, Melissa, of Meta Missouri; three sisters, Sandra Poynter of Sedalia, Mary Morris of Centralia, Missouri, and Amy West of St. Louis, Missouri; along with numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by two brothers, Mitch Wansing and James Cable; and one sister, Tammi Forsee.
A celebration of life gathering with family and friends will be held at a later date.
A private family burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery, where Chuck will be laid to rest with his parents and welcomed with open arms at Heaven's gates and the Chez When in the sky.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
