Chris Alexander Brooks, 72, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on July 1, 2025, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. He was born May 31, 1953, in Sedalia, the son of William Nelson Brooks and Stella Lucille (Hughes) Brooks, who preceded him in death.
In August 1973, Chris was united in marriage to Sherri Allard in Denver, CO. They were married until 1984 and have remained in contact. She resides in Sedalia.
Chris spent the majority of his life in Denver, Colorado. In the 1970s, he left high school in hopes of serving his country in the military but was unable to enlist due to health concerns. Despite that setback, he remained determined and hardworking, enjoying a lifelong career as a general laborer.
A devoted Denver Broncos fan, Chris rarely missed a game and was always loyal to his team, win or lose. He loved being outdoors, sharing stories with family and friends, and bringing humor and kindness to every gathering. He had a warm spirit, never spoke ill of anyone, and made friends wherever he went.
Chris had a deep love for animals, especially the dogs and cats he rescued and cared for over the years. His faithful companion, Buddy, was always by his side.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Ditzfeld (Jamie) of Sedalia; his sister, Cecile Bircher of Sedalia; three grandchildren, Adam Brooks (Skyy) of Warrensburg, Brianna Elkins (Corey) of Sedalia, and Jaime Ellebracht (Tyler) of Sedalia; four great-grandsons; and his beloved dog, Buddy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Matt Brooks.
In accordance with Chris' wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sedalia Spay and Neuter Clinic or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
