Clyde Lee Lambertz, 95, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Monday, November 10, 2025, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. He was born August 6, 1930, in Emerson, IA, the son of Herbert and Ethyl (Campbell) Lambertz, who preceded him in death.
On June 24, 1956, in Council Bluffs, IA, he was united in marriage to Janice Faye Guill, who preceded him in death on January 21, 2024.
Clyde was a proud graduate of Red Oak High School, Class of 1947, and continued his education at Red Oak Junior College, graduating in 1949. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country honorably from December 1950 until October 1954. During his service, Clyde was assigned to the USS Montague (AKA-98), an attack cargo ship.
Following his military career, Clyde began a long and dedicated tenure with J.C. Penney, where he worked from 1950 until his retirement in 1995, serving as store manager in Goodland, KS. Even after retirement, Clyde remained active, working part-time at the Kansas Welcome Center on I-70 near the Colorado border. He also gave generously of his time through volunteer service, including the local housing authority board, helping seniors with tax preparation, and assisting with the Sherman County Fair.
Clyde was a devoted member of the Goodland First United Methodist Church and attended the Celebration Center in Sedalia. He was also a proud member of the Goodland Rotary Club and supported the Northwest Kansas Animal Shelter.
He is survived by three sons, Donald Lambertz (Edith) of Sedalia, David Lambertz (Emilie) of Andover, KS, and Scott Lambertz (Leigh Ann) of Lee's Summit, MO; six granddaughters, Brook (Anthony) Boyer, Lindsay (Brian) Boatright, Erin Lambertz (fiancé Zac Newell), Lauren (Brett) Coatney, Elizabeth Lambertz, and Jenna Lambertz; six great-grandchildren; three step-grandsons; a step-granddaughter; eight step-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Dale Guill of Branson, MO; a sister-in-law, Mary Smith of St. Francis, KS; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, Clyde was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church Celebration Center, with Rev. Candace Fowler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Full military honors will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. by the United States Navy and Sedalia VFW Post #2591. The Mid-Mo Patriot Guard Riders will stand guard during services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sedalia Animal Shelter, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
