Obituary For Dave Alan "Smitty" Smith

Dave Alan Smith "Smitty", 64, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. He was born on July 13, 1959, in Sedalia, the son of Kenneth Darrell Smith and Charlene (Hall) Smith, who preceded him in death.

He was united in marriage to Denise Horn on September 4, 1985, in Sedalia, MO, who preceded him in death on February 23, 1993.

Smitty was a proud husband and father and very loyal in all his endeavors. For many years, he owned and operated Smitty's full-service gas station and U-Haul business on South 65 Highway. After that, Smitty always enjoyed working with tools and vehicles. He spent many of his late years as a mechanic for Williams Woody Nissan. When Smitty wasn't working, you often saw him watching racing or sports in his home with a Busch light in hand. He enjoyed attending the races with his brother and was always known in his neighborhood for being sociable and friendly. Smitty will be remembered for his distinct laugh and personality that uplifted those around him.

Smitty is survived by a son Alex Smith (Jenny) of Sedalia; four grandchildren: DJ, Olivia, Tessa, and Jordan; a stepson Matt Wells (Breanna) of Sedalia; three step-grandchildren: Brynnley, Brielle, and Braelyn; a step-grandson Jackson Horn; a sister Dee Johnson (Rick) of Knob Noster; and two nephews, Kenny and Jeff Johnson.

In addition to his wife and parents, Smitty was preceded in death by a brother, Don Smith, and a stepson, Justin Horn.

Smitty's life will be celebrated from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel, 3510 W. 16th St., Sedalia.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
