Obituary

David Layton Adair, 68, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away at his home on February 16, 2026. He was born on March 14, 1957, in Sacramento, California, the son of Junior Adair and Ila (Paxton) Adair, who preceded him in death.

On December 20, 1998, in La Monte, Missouri, David was united in marriage to Theresa (Roller) Adair. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2025.

David was a hardworking man who could do just about anything with his hands. Over the years, he worked in many trades, including welding, mechanics, and heavy equipment operation. Together, he and Theresa managed/operated a business installing and maintaining poultry farm equipment, work that reflected his strong work ethic and willingness to help others. David also dedicated more than 20 years to Tyson Foods. He began as a forklift driver, advanced into leadership, and retired as a supervisor in 2023.

In his younger years, David devoted his life to ministry, serving as a Pentecostal pastor for multiple congregations across southern and central Missouri. His faith, steady presence, and heart for people left a lasting impact on those he served.

David enjoyed fishing, playing golf, archery, and, most of all, spending time with family at gatherings and special occasions.

David is survived by two sons, David Thompson (Alice) and Aaron Thompson (Brittney), all of Sedalia; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Gordon Adair (Sheree) and Ronnie Adair (Debbie).

There will be no formal services held at this time.

Cremation arrangements are under the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
