Obituary For David Hartley Viles

David Hartley Viles, 83, of Cole Camp, MO passed away Monday, February 7, 2022, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, MO. He was born on September 16, 1938 in Kansas City, MO the son of Grayson Eric Viles and Elsie Laverne (Jones) Viles, who preceded him in death.

In 1960 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Ilene Smith, who preceded him in death on August 6, 2001

David worked as a heavy equipment operator for 40+ years. Operating a back-hoe was second nature to him and there was no place he'd rather work than outside. David was at peace being outside working and tinkering around with his oldies but goodies. He loved old cars, was a good mechanic, and if he spotted one out in a field, he felt the need to give it a home, and so he did.

He loved his family and was always glad to lend a hand without expecting anything in return. He spoke sweetly of his grandkiddos and how proud he was of them.

Survivors include five children, Susie Kay Ricker (Randy) of Sedalia, David Warren Viles of Sedalia, Deborah Irene Wood (Brian) of Sedalia, Stephen Hartley Viles of Stockton, MO, and Kevin Lee Viles (Keri) of Papillion, NE; twelve grandchildren, Renee', Sara, Shauna, Amanda, Josie, Megan, Leah, Austin, John, Katie, T.J. and Heather; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters, Marilyn Cockrum of Warrensburg, MO and Nancy Dunaway (Richard) of Omaha, NE; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Grayson "Buddy" Earl Viles; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Sullivan.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rusty Thomas officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2022 at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Eugene, MO.

Pallbearers will be John Viles, Austin Wood, Jacob Viles, Dylan Davis, Nathan Height, and Weston Davis.

Family and friends may make memorial contributions to a charity of the donor's choice in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
