David L Meek

David L. Meek, 73, of La Monte, MO passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia, Missouri. He was born on October 28, 1947 in Leon, IA the son of Kenneth and Donna (Roberts) Meek.

David was united in marriage to Clara Lewis, who has preceded him in death.

David was a life-long poet. Writing poetry meant the world to David, and many people enjoyed reading his poems. He also loved watching movies and his four-legged friends, his cats.

He is survived by one son, David Meek, of Pleasantville, IA; a daughter, Leora (Joe) Meek-Dappen, of Hot Springs, SD; four brothers, Ted Meek, of La Monte, MO, Steve Meek of Sedalia, MO, Jon Meek, of Carlisle, IA and Alan Meek of Sedalia, MO; one sister, Debbie Choate of La Monte, MO; seven grandchildren, Brianna, Brian, Eric, Leslie, Leana, David, and Dacia; one great-grandchild, Envie; and a special friend Patricia, of San Diego, CA.

David was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Meek.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
