Obituary For Dennis Ehlert

Dennis Ehlert PhD, 77, of Sedalia, MO passed away May 9, 2022, at The Neighborhoods in Columbia, MO. He was born on August 2, 1944, in East St. Louis, IL the son of Walter Ehlert and Helen (Meni) Ehlert, who preceded him in death.

On April 3, 1971, in St. Louis, MO, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Hemmen, who resides in the home.

In the beginning of Dennis' teaching career, he taught PE for the St. Louis public schools and then he was a principal in, Southeast MO. Later in his teaching career he became Professor and Dean of Ed at Missouri Valley College, Marshall, MO and Professor of Education at Virginia State, VA (5 years) and UCM (Warrensburg, 5 years). Dennis obtained his PhD from St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO.

He enjoyed painting, drawing, photography, watching Chiefs football and Cardinals baseball. Dennis also enjoyed attending Mens' Bible study, playing knee hockey, catch, chess, and swimming with his grandson.

Dennis acknowledged Yahweh, as God and creator of all. Yeshua, Jesus, as his Lord and Savior, and Holy Spirit as Comforter. He was a member of Liberty Life Center.

Along with his wife he is survived by a daughter, Denise Brooke Ehlert of Sedalia; a grandson, Dennis Butner; and many other extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, David Ehlert.

Graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Mt. Herman Cemetery, Sedalia, with Pastor Gary Smith officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Sedalia VFW Post #2591.

Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Life Center in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
