Dion Charles Marshall Sims-Bey

Dion Charles Marshall Sims-Bey, 18, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was born on May 6, 2008, in Sedalia, the son of Kardell E. Sims Sr. of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Erica C. Kinner of Sedalia.

Dion was a 2026 graduate of Whittier High School. He enjoyed listening to music, fishing, gaming, and spending time with his cousins. Dion will be remembered by his family and friends for the special moments they shared with him and the love and laughter he brought into their lives.

In addition to his parents, Dion is survived by six siblings, Katelyn Gebelein, Jourdan Diehl, Kaylyn Wilson, Kaitlyn Kinner, Kardell Sims Jr., and A'miri Gilmore; four step-siblings, Imani Jackson, Kanei Jackson, Tatiana Jackson, and Khiani Jackson; his paternal grandmother, Nancy Sims-VanBuren of Sedalia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Dion was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joyce Riley and Brad Balke; and his paternal grandfather, Donald VanBuren.

A celebration of life gathering will be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
