Dolores M. Drexler

Dolores M. Drexler, 90, loving wife and mother, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on April 14, 1936, in Caladonia, Missouri, the daughter of William G. and Bertie M. (Moyer) Huitt, who preceded her in death.

On February 11, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Jack A. Drexler. Together, they shared nearly 69 years of marriage before his passing on January 21, 2025.

Dolores attended Horace Mann School and Southwest High School in St. Louis and also attended school in Bismarck, Missouri. She began her working career at the Prince Gardner wallet factory in St. Louis. Dolores later devoted herself to caring for her family as a stay-at-home mother until her youngest son, Mike, was 12 years old.

In the 1970s, Dolores began a long and rewarding career as a school bus driver. She drove for four years with the Ferguson-Florissant School District in St. Louis, three years with the Sedalia School District 200, and 18 years with the Dresden School District. She retired in 2001 after 25 years of safely transporting and caring for generations of students.

Dolores enjoyed bowling and participated regularly in Monday and Friday leagues, including the Swinging Senior League and Senior Mixed Four League. She formed many friendships through bowling and treasured the fellowship she shared with her teammates.

While living in the Greater Northwest District of St. Louis County, Dolores was deeply involved in Cub Scouting. She served as a den mother and den leader for three and a half years, den leader coach for eight years, and as a member of the roundtable and training staffs for nine years. She also served as vice chairman of training for two years, as a member of the district committee for three years, and directed the Cub Adventure Camp for two years. Her many years of service reflected her dedication to children, families, and her community.

Dolores is survived by her five children, Diane Sackman and her husband, Donald, Robert Drexler, Thomas Drexler, James Drexler, and Michael Drexler and his wife, Laura; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Huitt of Bonne Terre, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Sackman; five brothers, Linus G. Huitt, Jesse E. Huitt, Robert Linn Huitt, Roy Wendell Huitt, and Donald R. Huitt; and three sisters, Tressie J. LaPorte, Linda Susan Cottrell, and Bernice Spencer.

A private family graveside service and burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
