Dona F. Smith, 76, of Sedalia, MO, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at E.W. Thompson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sedalia. Born on July 22, 1949, in Sedalia, she was the beloved daughter of James Garrigus and Mary (Burk) Garrigus, both of whom preceded her in death.
On June 2, 1967, in Sedalia, MO, she was united in marriage to Bobby Dale Smith, who resides in the home.
Dona dedicated many years to teaching at the children's camp for the Harmony Baptist Association, eventually serving as the camp's director. She also taught Vacation Bible School at Olive Branch Church and Lamine Baptist Church for numerous years, sharing her love for children and her faith. Dona enjoyed a long career at Interstate Studios, where she worked for 30 years, and also contributed her talents at Smithton Cafeteria. She was a familiar face at the local polls, volunteering her time each year. Above all, Dona cherished family gatherings and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren.
Dona is survived by her devoted husband, Bobby Dale Smith; her son, Michael D. Smith (Lisa); her daughter, Michele Stone (Jimmy); three grandchildren, Derek Stone, Ryan Stone (Kirstin), and Kali Smith; two great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Paislee Stone, with another, Melody Rose, expected soon; and her twin brother, Don Garrigus.
In addition to her parents, Dona was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and James Garrigus, and a sister, Nancy Cannady.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Olive Branch Cemetery, Beaman, Missouri, with Pastor John Dumsday.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Stone, Derek Stone, Steve Smith, Ryan Stone, and Mike Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harmony Baptist Association Children's Camp Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
