Doris Gilliland

Doris Elaine Gilliland, 77, of Joplin, MO, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014 at her home. She was born on December 30, 1936, a daughter of Carl Dow and Clayta Lorain (Keyes) Shoe.

Doris enjoyed quilting, working at carnivals, and collecting fabric.

She is survived by three children, who include Sherry Stevens (George) of Sedalia and Charles E. Johnson, Sr. of Joplin, MO; two sisters, Marilyn Ward of Kansas City, MO and Maggie Stratton of Sedalia; six grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and her beloved Chihuahua, Ginger Lee, of the home.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Charles Johnson, Joseph Smith, and Andrew J. Gilliland; one sister; two brothers; and one granddaughter.

A celebration of life gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
