Obituary For Frances A. Summers

Frances A. Summers, 99, of Sedalia, passed away on December 21, 2023, at EW Thompson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sedalia, MO. She was born on October 5, 1924, in Sedalia, the daughter of Glenn Lemmon and Anna Marie (Weaver) Lemmon, who preceded her in death.

On February 5, 1964, in Sedalia, MO, she was united in marriage to Earl P. Summers, who preceded her in death on March 28, 2018.

Frances was a 1942 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She went to work for Southwestern Bell as an operator for 30 years. Then, she owned and operated Around the Fireside for 25 years. Frances was active and involved in many civic organizations, including the Salvation Army, Open Door, Business and Professional Women, and Altrusa.

Frances was a friend to many and had an immeasurable passion for helping others.

Survivors include a son, Charles Meyer and wife Karen of Sedalia; three granddaughters, Robin Mitchel (Les), Julie Meyer-Williams (Terry), and Angie Brock (Brandon); a step-grandson, Jason Kempton (Shelly); eleven great-grandchildren, Amber and Jakob Neel, McKenzie Meyer, Brooklyn Mitchel, Bailey and Landon Kiefer, Frances, Lillian and Patton Brock, Jackson and Ramey Kempton; four great-great-grandchildren, Mason, Spencer, Amelia, and Ivy; one sister, Patty Cramer of Warsaw, MO; a sister-in-law, Shirley Summers; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Frances was preceded in death by a brother, C.W. Lemmon, and two sisters, Mildred Green and Glenna Lemmon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel, 3510 W. 16th St.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Terry Williams, Brandon Brock, Les Mitchel, Jason Kempton, Jackson Kempton, Jakob Neel, and Landon Kiefer.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kelly's Place in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
