Obituary For Gary Leon Pilant

Gary Leon Pilant, 66, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Rest Haven Convalescent Home in Sedalia. He was born on July 3, 1956, in Monett, MO, the son of Howard Pilant and Martha Higgs Johnson, who preceded him in death.

Gary enjoyed old International Scouts, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles. He raced and rode motorcycles for many years. He won two four-stroke class state championships in Missouri Hare Scrambles Series. He loved being around his granddaughters. He enjoyed clearing brush on his land. He was a collector of vehicles and motorcycles. He never threw anything away because he thought he might need it someday.

Gary is survived by his significant other, GiGi Nachtigal; one son, Travis Pilant, and wife Pam; one daughter, Audrey Robinson, and husband Joshua; three grandchildren, Olivia Pilant, Gracie Pilant, Chloe Branz; three sisters, and one brother.

Besides his parents, Gary is also preceded in death by one sister, Sherry Jane Pilant Byrd.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with pastor Candace Fowler officiating.

Visitation will be at the chapel from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.

Burial will follow services at Highland Sacred Gardens, Sedalia.

Pallbearers will be David Dillingham, Danny Crawford, Kevin Borts, Kevin Boyle, Daniel Hughes, and Bubba Hinshaw.

Honorary bearers will be Aaron Pilant, Jeremy Altis, Joshua Robinson, and Jeremiah Hinshaw.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
