Obituary For George Gavin White

George Gavin White, 70, of Sedalia, MO, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 14, 2023. He was born on October 19, 1952, in Albuquerque, NM, the son of Gavin George White and Anna (Saucier) White, who preceded him in death.

On February 11, 1983, in Miami, OK, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Harrington, who resides in the home.

George was raised in La Monte, MO. He grew up military, spending his time working from a young age and riding and showing horses at Wade’s Rodeo Arena. In 1974, he bought the Dairy Isle in La Monte. He started selling life insurance for Western-Southern in 75. In 76, he began selling cars for Johnny and Jerry Baker, which led to a long successful career in the car business.

In 77, George started a trail riding business at Howard Rock Quarries. In 78, he obtained his Auctioneers license from KC Stockyards. He won several plaques at the Missouri State Fair Auctioneer’s Bid Contest. He spent many years auctioneering and co-owning the Auto Auction near La Monte.

In 1989, he opened Roadrunner Auto Sales in Sedalia, where he sold cars for 30 years before retiring. George and Cheryl spent many years at their lake home, boating and floating with many friends and family. He was a music lover, especially the 60’s and 70’s. He loved to dance, auctioneer in the shower, go on vacations, and do casino runs - he was especially good at Craps. He loved his animals of all kinds, and they loved him. His dog Lola, fat cat Sally, and cat Sky were right by his side during his passing. He enjoyed feeding the deer and birds in his yard. George lived a great, full life, enjoyed serving our community, loved people and his family, and was a great and honorable man who will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Along with his wife, George is survived by a daughter, Julie White of Sedalia; two step-sons, Brian Davidson of Sammamish, WA, and Michael Davidson (Pamela Callaway) of Windsor, MO; four grandchildren, Makayla, Zel, Maddie, and Hunter; three great-grandchildren; four siblings, Robert White (Pat) of La Monte, MO, Annette Chandler of Bourbonnais, IL, Porter White of Sedalia, and Kim White (Marie) of Hensley, AR; many nieces and nephews.
