Obituary For George Ross Bain, Jr.

George Ross Bain, Jr., 65, of Sedalia, MO went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the home of his son, surrounded in comfort by his family.

He was born on July 1, 1955 in Sedalia, the son of George Ross Bain, Sr., and Betty Ruth (Lutjen) Bain, who preceded him in death.

On May 1, 1976 in Sedalia, MO he was united in marriage to life partner and true love Theresa Louise Twenter, who survives of the home. To this union were born a son, George Ross Bain III on May 30, 1978 and a daughter, Amanda May (Bain) Prewitt on April 27, 1981.

In his youth he became a confirmed member of Our Savior Lutheran Church on March 30, 1969. Later in life as an adult, he regularly attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church with his family becoming a member on May 24, 2019. George attended Horace Mann Elementary School and graduated Smith-Cotton High School in May of 1973. His career spanned over 50 years at Inter-State Studio & Publishing Co. in Sedalia. He performed various duties while readily accepting increased responsibilities with each earned promotion and management position, his last being Litho Director. Three years ago, he transitioned to semi-retirement to have greater time of enjoyment with his wife Theresa, family, and extended family. He was highly regarded and respected by all who worked with him, and for him, during his career. The kindest compliment that has been shared by others in the workplace is that he was truly a ‘people person’. He enjoyed his work-related relationships and expressed his appreciation to others for a job well done. George took immense pride in teamwork accomplishments and was a leader by example.

George was active throughout his youth, playing Hide and Seek, Kick The Can and other well-known childhood games with friends. He also was active playing Little League, Junior & Senior Babe Ruth baseball during the summer months and several All- Star teams. George for many years was recognized throughout central Missouri as being one of the absolute best slow pitch softball athletes of his generation. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and canoeing, some of these activities being with his father. He continued these same activities with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. Family vacations were still another form of personal happiness for him. He and Theresa proudly supported their children and grandchildren by regularly attending their various sporting and school events. For a hobby, George enjoyed building, repairing, and renovating varied things as requested of him from time to time by extended family and close friends. He especially took pleasure in remodeling his home while also helping remodel those of his children. Doing these things were his way of being a positive influence and good servant to others.

George was well known to family, friends, and strangers as being a riveting storyteller. He could hold your attention and bring you to laughter at a moment's notice. He will be missed by all who knew him, family, and friends alike.

Survivors include a son, George Ross Bain III (Lisa) and a daughter, Amanda May (Bain) Prewitt; one brother, Richard Bain, Sr.; two sisters, Deborah Lamb (Steven) all of Sedalia, MO, and Mary Thompson (Arthur, Sr.) of Otterville, MO; five grandchildren, Shelby, George IV, Kynslee, Liam, and Greyson; as well many nieces and nephews.
