Glen Charles Lemmon

May 5, 1972 — April 4, 2026

Glen Charles Lemmon, 53, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on April 4th, 2026, at Kansas City Hospice House. He was born on May 5th, 1972, in Sedalia, son of Charles Willis Lemmon and Mary Louise (Gibbs) Lemmon.

Born and raised in Sedalia, Glen graduated from Smith-Cotton High School, where he was deeply influenced by strong role models who helped shape the man he would become. As a young man, he was especially close with Bill ("BJ" and Beetle to Glen) Ellis and Roy Pointer. During his high school years, he formed lifelong friendships with Richard, Russell, and Sue Dedrick, whom he cherished as family. After graduation, he attended SFCC before earning his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Lincoln University. He then had the opportunity to teach and coach alongside Chris Edwards at Winfield High School, and then back to central Missouri when they both went to Versailles to coach.

He always had great friendships and support wherever he taught and coached. This included Matt Klein, a friend he talked and texted with every day for over 20 years after they first met and worked together in Versailles. He then had the opportunity to coach with Shannon Jolley in Eldon, and they remained great friends even after they went on to coach in different places. Shannon was a great role model to Glen, shaping the way he interacted with the kids and players they coached.

After Eldon, Glen coached and taught in Mountain Grove, where he met another great friend, Greg Warlop. Shannon later brought him to Jefferson City to coach together again. Through a blessing from God, east side boy Charlie McFail brought Glen home to teach and coach at their alma mater, Smith-Cotton High School. It was there that he met the biggest blessing of his life, his wife Monica Rowlette.

Glen and Monica loved each other deeply and had so much fun together, traveling extensively across the country and throughout Europe. She gave him the experience of having a family of his own with her two sons, Peyton and Harper. He truly enjoyed his role as step-dad and all the experiences that come with parenthood. He couldn't have endured his illness without her. She was totally devoted to him throughout their relationship and stayed by his side from the moment they met.

He thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the outpouring of support from the Sedalia School District, the junior high principals and staff, and all the cards, flowers, notes, emails, and texts from his many former and current students and players.

He also enjoyed and appreciated all the great friends he made throughout his life - the ones who came to help and support him during his brief illness.

Thank you for loving and guiding me throughout my life. I love you all.

Glen is survived by his wife, Monica and his step-sons, Peyton and Harper; his uncle, Cliff Karvinen; and many cherished friends who he considered family. He also had two sisters, Debra Kleine and Charlene Knight; several nieces and a nephew, cousins, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Lemmon; paternal grandmother, Anna Marie Lemmon; and several aunts, including Glenna Lemmon and Joan Karvinen.
