Gwendolyn Mae Bennett

Gwendolyn Mae Bennett, age 76, of Sedalia, MO, died on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Sylvia Thompson Nursing Home. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Gwendolyn was born on October 29, 1948, in Randolph County, the daughter of Eunice Edwin Sanders and Naomi Louise (Linneman) Sanders. She married Clarence Bennett on November 23, 1969, in Millersburg, MO. Clarence preceded her in death on September 27, 2000.

Gwendolyn graduated from Keytesville High School, Keytesville, MO, in 1966 and attended Northeast Missouri State University (now known as Truman State University), Kirksville, MO. Gwendolyn held numerous accounting positions over the years, working at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, and at General Motors in Wentzville, MO, as well as being co-owner of Bennett Towing and Car Sales in Wentzville, MO.

Gwendolyn loved being a mother, cooking, baking, making porcelain dolls, and painting ceramics, as well as spoiling her nieces, nephews, and friends' children. She was an avid dog lover, having many dachshunds over the years.

She is survived by one son, Michael David Bennett, Columbia, MO; one brother, Deryl Sanders, Forest Green, MO; three sisters, Sharon Casebolt (Jan) of Brunswick, MO, Karen Patton (Tom), Georgetown, Ohio, and Linda Henderson (Troy) of Sedalia, MO; twelve nephews, and nieces and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Larry Allen Sanders and Donald Wayne Sanders; a brother-in-law, Danny Wayne Timms; a sister-in-law, Nita Faye Sanders; and one nephew, Eli Sanders.

Memorials may be made to any humane society or dog rescue center of your choice, in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
