Jackie "Jack" Ray George Shelledy

Jackie "Jack" Ray George Shelledy, 88, of Sedalia, previously of Blue Springs and Lee's Summit, MO, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Primrose Retirement Community of Sedalia. He was born on August 11, 1936, in Springfield, MO, the son of Clay H. Shelledy and Mildred (Barnett) Shelledy, who preceded him in death.

On August 29, 1955, in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Janet Marie Case, who survives him. On May 31, 1977, in Miami, OK, he was united in marriage to Nancy Lee Shiffer, who preceded him in death on August 28, 2022.

Jack was a proud graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, Class of 1954. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country honorably from 1955 to 1958 and achieving the rank of Sergeant.

A skilled and successful home builder and contractor, Jack built his first house while still a senior in high school. Over the years, he constructed numerous homes in the Sedalia, Lee's Summit, and Blue Springs areas. He and Janet also owned and operated Shelledy Real Estate in Sedalia for many years.

Deeply involved in the community, Jack founded Sedalia's first youth football league and coached many young athletes through the Koury League's softball and baseball programs.

In the early 1980s, he moved to Blue Springs with his wife, Nancy, where they shared their love of travel and also cherished their time spent together in their home in Phoenix, AZ. A passionate sports enthusiast, he was an avid golfer and a dedicated season ticket holder for both the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Each spring, he made it a tradition to attend the Royals' spring training camp.

Survivors include three children, Jancey Shelledy Taylor (John) of Sunrise Beach, MO, Jenein Sinclair (Steve) of Sedalia, and Jackie Shelledy (Lisa) of Sedalia; a stepdaughter, Sharon Sally Birdsong of Independence, MO; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Myrna Rosalie Edwards.

In addition to his parents and wife Nancy, Jack was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Furnell; a brother, Carl Dean DeWitt; a stepdaughter, Sandra Kay Maddy; one grandson, Trevor Ray Vanderpool, and two granddaughters, LaKrista Michelle Griffin and Alyssa Jenelle Shelledy.
