James E. Kresse of Sedalia, MO passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022 at his home. On October 23, 1941, he was born in Sedalia, the son of Elmer Joseph and Frances Lee (Warden) Kresse, who preceded him in death.
On December 12, 1969, in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Janet Rose Shane, who preceded him in death on July 10, 2019.
Jim was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 12. He was a 1959 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, where he ran cross country track and played football. Jim was a hard-working young man. When he was a sophomore in high school, he started working at East Bing's Market. Later, Jim worked for Town and Country Shoe Factory in the in-stock department. In 1961, he went to work with his Dad at Kresse Products at 3rd and Engineer until 1970, when he worked for Alcan Cable until retiring in 1998, as the Production Recorder on Shift C.
Jim loved going to garage sales, finding bargains on eBay, and stirring the political pot on Facebook. He loved spending time with family at BBQs and get-togethers, and especially loved time spent with his grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Lori Hathaway (Steve) of Plato, MO, Cheryl Grimes, and Kimberly Nusser (Jeffrey); a son, Steven Kresse, all of Sedalia; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Owens of Springfield, MO; two sisters-in-law, Carol Ann Dodd and Jeanne Chapman (Dale); a brother-in-law, Michael Shane (Mary Lou) all of Sedalia; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Tim Whitmore officiating and Chaplin Jeff Stegner assisting.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia.
Honorary bearers will be grandchildren, Kassie (Kresse) Thomas, Anthony Kresse, Austin Kramer, Blake Kramer, Alexander Kresse, Zachary Nusser, Maegan Nusser, and Dylan Kresse.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
