Obituary For James "Jim" Lee Curry

James “Jim” Lee Curry, 80, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, in Sedalia. He was born on June 19, 1942, in Sedalia, the son of Miles Monroe and Cora Helen "Slater" Curry, who preceded him in death.

On December 24, 1963, in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Patricia Sue "Estes" Curry, who preceded him in death on January 9, 2018.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a graduate of Smithton High School and retired from the Sedalia Police Department in 1989 after 22 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with family and especially his wife Pat of 54 years. After her retirement they were inseparable. Throughout his life Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

Jim is survived by three children; William Curry (Carla) of Sedalia, Melissa Burton (Craig) of Sedalia, and Debbie Huddleston (Ray) of Smithton; nine grandchildren, Miles Curry, (Lindsey), Mitchel Curry (Cord), Macie Curry, McCade Curry, Bradley Burton (Lexi), Allison Burton, Shelbi Huddleston, Autumn Huddleston, and Cassidy Huddleston; great-granddaughter, Myla Curry; cousin, Beckie Couhig of Spring, TX, and several other extended family members.

Besides his parents and wife Pat, Jim is preceded in death by a sister Patricia Herrick.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Chad McMullin, officiating.

A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Urn entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to thank the Crossroads Hospice staff and his dedicated caregiver and friend Lorilee Mitchell for their dedicated and loving care of Jim throughout his end of life journey.
