James Edwin Teasley, 79, of Concordia, MO, formerly of Smithton, MO, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. He was born on February 28, 1946, in Birmingham, AL, the son of James Teasley and Kathryn Lurline Kendrick Dutton Teasley, who preceded him in death.
James served his country honorably in the United States Navy, Stationed in Guam. He worked as a security guard for the Missouri State Correctional Facility in Jefferson City, MO, for several years. After his retirement, he moved to Smithton, MO. James was very devoted in his faith. He attended several different churches in the Sedalia and Smithton areas. James enjoyed watching country western TV shows and movies. He enjoyed playing scrabble and other word games.
James is survived by one son, Victor Teasley of Bakersfield, CA; a step-son, Howard McSwain (Markie) of Sedalia; a step-daughter, Nancy Stovall (Larry) of Houstonia, MO; his companion, Earline McSwain, of Concordia, MO; a sister, Ruth McGough, of Carbon Hill, AL; fourteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; a nephew; and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Lefebvre, Tim Clossin, and Chris Cagle.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
