Jason Michael
Atwood
May 11, 1969 — Jul 20, 2026
Jason Michael Atwood, age 57, passed away peacefully at his home in Green Ridge, Missouri, on July 20, 2026.
Jason was born on May 11, 1969, in Rock Island, Illinois, to Brenda Atwood and James Atwood, who preceded him in death. He was a devoted son, loving husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend whose kindness and dedication touched countless lives.
Jason graduated from Cole Camp High School in Cole Camp, Missouri. He began his career in construction, where he worked for ten years before joining the Pettis County Jail in 1998. Dedicated to serving his community, he later attended the police academy and continued his career in law enforcement for more than 20 years before retiring. He took great pride in protecting and serving others and was respected by his coworkers and those who knew him.
In 1995, Jason met the love of his life, Lisa. The two were married in 1998 and built a beautiful life together, raising six children: Anjelica Walker, Anastasia Walters (husband, Jorrell Quint), Arissa Walker, Jellisa Atwood, Jaxon Atwood, and Jason Atwood Jr. Jason's greatest joy was his family, and he was a proud and loving "Papa" to eight beloved grandchildren, who brought endless happiness to his life.
Jason is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Atwood; his mother, Brenda Atwood; his six children; his eight grandchildren; his sister, Shawna Atwood; his brother, Kevin Atwood; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and former colleagues who will forever cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Atwood, Father-in-law Micheal Walker and Mother-in-law Carole Walker, and brother-in-law Daniel Walker.
Jason will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his strong work ethic, his sense of humor, and his willingness to help anyone in need. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the family he loved so deeply, and the example he set through a lifetime of service.
Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him forever. He will always be known for bringing sexy back.
The family will have a celebration of life gathering with family and friends at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
