Jenny L. Raines, 79, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 26, 2026. She was born April 28, 1946, in Cole Camp, Missouri, the daughter of Leonard H. Ehlers and Ethel L. (Bohling) Ehlers, who preceded her in death.
On May 2, 1980, in Huntsville, Alabama, Jenny was united in marriage to Floyd Golding, who preceded her in death on October 22, 2013. On July 23, 2016, in Marshall, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Gary E. Raines, who preceded her in death on December 23, 2024.
Jenny was a proud graduate of Morgan County R-I High School in Stover, Missouri, Class of 1964. She spent her early years in the Stover and Cole Camp areas, building the roots that stayed with her throughout her life. Jenny worked a variety of jobs, but much of her career was spent serving others at the Versailles Walmart, first in Customer Service and later as a Pharmacy Technician.
Jenny lived for a time in Huntsville, Alabama, where she met Floyd. After returning to Missouri, they made their home in Stover until his passing. Later, Jenny met Gary Raines, and together they lived in Longwood, Missouri, until his death. Jenny then moved to Sedalia, where she continued to stay close to family and friends.
Faith was important to Jenny. She was Confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Stover, MO. She attended New Salem Baptist Church in Nelson, Missouri, and later attended First United Methodist Church on Thompson Boulevard in Sedalia. She was also a member of the Sedalia Moose Lodge #1494, where she enjoyed bingo nights, dinners with friends, and the fellowship she found there.
Jenny found joy in the simple, beautiful things, crafting, sewing, and gardening, especially flowers. She loved watching birds and faithfully put up her hummingbird feeders each year. She enjoyed going to car shows with Floyd and attending tractor pulls with Gary and his boys. Above all, Jenny loved to dance and laugh. She treasured family gatherings, the food, the stories, and the time together were some of her greatest joys.
Jenny is survived by two daughters, Michele Laas (Andy) of Stover, Missouri, and Sonya Mertgen (Ernie) of Florence, Missouri; five grandchildren, Zachary, Ashley, Tiffany, Madeline, and Nigel; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Shifflett (Raymond) of Clarksdale, Missouri; a niece, Brenda Howard (Marty); two nephews, Randy Shifflett (Marla) and Russ Shifflett (Bev); and three step-sons, Jimmie Raines of Sedalia, Kenneth Raines (Jennifer) of Hughesville, Missouri, and Myron "Buddy" Raines (Kathy) of Republic, Missouri.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Jenny was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kathryn Ann Laas; and a great-granddaughter, Addison Michele Metscher.
