Jerold Arthur Knotts Sr.

Jerold Arthur Knotts Sr., 84, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born on March 11, 1941, in Clarksburg, WV, the son of Ona Arthur Knotts and Esther (Hoffman) Knotts, who preceded him in death.

On December 17, 1961, in Rowlesburg, WV, Jerold was united in marriage to the love of his life, Betty Jo Knotts, who survives him at home.

A 1959 graduate of Rowlesburg High School, Jerold proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1967. During his eight years of honorable service, he completed three deployments to the Mediterranean aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal.

Following his military service, Jerold furthered his education at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, CA, where he earned a degree in HVAC. He then enjoyed a 25-year career with Lockheed Aircraft, where he contributed to the development of groundbreaking aircraft such as the L-1011, SR-71, U-2, and F-117. He retired as a Flight Line Supervisor.

Jerold was a devoted member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marshall, MO. He cherished time with his family and especially loved working on classic cars with his son, Jerold Jr.

In addition to his wife, Betty Jo, he is survived by two children, Jerold A. Knotts Jr. (Robin) of Sedalia, and Dawn L. Chiachi (Steve) of Cedar City, UT; four grandchildren, Brianna, Kayleigh, Nicholas, and Amanda; and two great-grandchildren, Madysen and Riley.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Randy Knotts.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Crown Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Randy Shannon officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the VFW Post #2591 and the United States Navy.
