Obituary

John Robert Crook Jr., 70, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on September 30, 2026. Born on May 29, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was the beloved son of John Robert Crook and Rena Faye Brownfield.

On December 20, 1974, in Sedalia, Missouri, John married Deborah Ann Schroeder, his devoted wife of 51 years, who survives him at their home.

John graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1974. He dedicated 48 years of service to Duke Manufacturing before retiring in 2021. John found joy in fishing and barbecuing, and cherished every moment spent playing with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his humble and genuine spirit.

In addition to his beloved wife, Deborah, John is survived by his father, John Crook of Sedalia, MO; two daughters, Sandra Shepherd and her husband Jamey of Sedalia, MO, and Tracy Satterfield of St. Peters, MO; four grandchildren, Alexis Shepherd, Zachery Shepherd, Jerry Satterfield, and Jamie Satterfield; two brothers, James Crook of Overland Park, KS, and Jared Crook of Sedalia, MO; as well as several nieces, a nephew, cousins, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rena Faye Wilson.

A celebration of John's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Rea Funeral Chapel in Sedalia, MO, with Chaplain Erich Kurz officiating.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

There will be a private family burial at a later date at Highland Sacred Gardens, Sedalia, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to ACG Hospice, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
