John Wesley Killion

John Wesley Killion, 76, of Houstonia, MO, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. He was born on February 22, 1949, in Sedalia, MO, the son of Clyde A. Killion and Alice E. (Stockhurst) Killion, who preceded him in death.

On July 27, 1974, in Sweet Springs, MO, John was united in marriage to Bonnie Heermann, who resides in the home.

John was a proud graduate of Northwest High School, Class of 1967. He furthered his education at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM, where he studied agriculture. Following college, John returned to the Hughesville area to begin working on the family farm. He later farmed alongside his son, Josh, raising cattle and row crops on their Century Farm in Houstonia.

John had a lifelong passion for tractor pulling and enjoyed building and modifying tractors for competition. He competed successfully in numerous tractor pulls, including the Annual Dream Factory Tractor Pull held at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. He was honored to serve as past president of the Tractor Pullers of Missouri Association.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by two children, Joshua Killion (Sherry) of Hughesville, MO, and Jordyn Killion-Real (Brian) of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren, Lyla and Landon; a sister, Mary Goodman of Kirksville, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Julie Calicoat.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Rusty Thomas officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Burial will follow at Houstonia Cemetery, Houstonia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Joey Merrick, Ben Merrick, Michael Merrick, Michael Hoffmann, and Mark Hoffman.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Dream Factory, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
