Judy Gayle Plumb, 86, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Caring Hearts and Hands in Columbia, Missouri. She was born on October 20, 1939, in Melbourne, Missouri, the daughter of Harry Cecil Davis and Lois Layne (Vance) Davis, who preceded her in death.
Judy was a proud graduate of Trenton High School in Trenton, Missouri, Class of 1957. Throughout her life, she was known for her caring nature, strong work ethic, and dedication to helping others. She worked for several years at Parkhurst Manufacturing and Maxine's Home Place Restaurant. Judy later devoted many years to providing in-home care for hospice patients, offering kindness, compassion, and comfort to individuals and families during some of life's most difficult moments.
Judy found joy in life's simple pleasures and especially cherished time spent with her family. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved cheering on her favorite team. Even more special to her was attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events, where she could always be counted on to show her love and support. Judy also enjoyed collecting ladybug memorabilia, listening to the music of Willie Nelson, and relaxing on her back porch, watching the birds and appreciating the beauty of nature. These simple pleasures, along with the love she shared with those around her, brought her great happiness throughout her life.
She was a devoted Christian and was a member of Worship House Church. Above all, Judy treasured her family. The memories she created, the love she gave, and the generosity she extended to others will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Judy is survived by two daughters, Lisa Bird and her husband, Steve, of Pilot Grove, Missouri, and Mindy Ruckman and her husband, Bryan, of Sedalia, Missouri; a bonus daughter, Belena Spencer and her husband, Delvin, of Enid, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Kiel Miller, Tyler Miller, Halee Ruckman, and Spencer Ruckman and his wife, Emily; three great-grandchildren, Landyn Miller, Delaney Miller, and Blaire Ruckman; a special niece, Traci Guerra and her husband, Michael; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by a daughter, Marla Moore; and three brothers, Fudgie Davis, Patrick Hamilton, and Ted Hamilton.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sedalia, Missouri, with Pastor Dutch Boer officiating.
Honorary bearers will be Judy's grandchildren, Kiel Miller, Tyler Miller, Halee Ruckman, and Spencer Ruckman; and her great-grandchildren, Landyn Miller, Delaney Miller, and Blaire Ruckman.
