Kathi Jean Moore, 64, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. She was born on December 24, 1960, in Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of Bennie Grant Cashman and Maudie Catherine (Cavin) Cashman, who preceded her in death.
On February 28, 1998, in Hutchinson, KS, she was united in marriage to Steven Moore, who resides in Sedalia.
Kathi was a proud member of the Cawker City High School Class of 1979, in Cawker City, KS. Throughout her life, she lived in various places, including Huntsville, AL, before moving to Hutchinson, KS, to be closer to family. There, she discovered her passion for early childhood education and began working for Head Start.
After relocating to Sedalia, she joined Melita Day Nursery at State Fair Community College, where she served as a beloved teacher and later as Director. Kathi later returned to Head Start, working with Missouri Valley Community Action Agency, where she advanced to the role of Mental Health and Disability Manager-a position that reflected her dedication to children and families.
Kathi found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan and a loyal follower of sprint car racing, especially cheering for her favorite driver, Steve Kinser. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Mamaw." Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she could often be found watching Hallmark movies, relaxing with a good book, and savoring the slower pace of life.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Lutjen (Jay) of Sedalia; her son, Spencer Moore of Sedalia; and two cherished grandchildren, Kennedy and Reese. She also leaves behind her brother, Rick Swartz of Salina, KS; and numerous cousins and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, Kathi was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Newquist, and a half brother, Vinny Lee Cashman.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Rusty Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
