Katie Elizabeth Pettis

Katie Elizabeth Pettis, 41, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at her home. She was born on April 18, 1984, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Gregory G. Gutjahr, who preceded her in death, and Carey Sue (Robinson) Gutjahr, who survives of the home.

Katie was a graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, Class of 2002. She later continued her education in massage therapy at the Massage Therapy Training Institute. Katie worked for a number of years at Bodyworks Day Spa in Sedalia, where she was able to share her caring nature with others.

Katie loved the beach and being by the ocean. Above all, her greatest joy in life was her two children. She loved Ryder and Scarlett dearly and was so very proud of them.

In addition to her mother, Katie is survived by her two children, Ryder and Scarlett Pettis of the home.

A celebration of life gathering with family and friends will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Rea Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family for the care of her children. Checks may be made payable to Katie's mother, Carey Gutjahr.
