Obituary

Katie Estrella Sebastian Astorga, 18, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She was born on January 28, 2008, in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Salvador Sebastian, who resides in Sedalia and Aris Jazmin Astorga, who preceded her in death.

Katie was a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sedalia, Missouri. She was a Senior at Smith-Cotton High School. Katie had a passion for beauty and creativity. She loved doing crafts, nails, exploring all things beauty, creating crafts, and sharing pieces of her life through vlogging. Through the things she enjoyed, Katie expressed her creativity and brought joy to those around her. Katie cherished the time she spent with her family and treasured the simple moments that made life special. One of her greatest companions was her beloved dog, Pom Pom, who brought her so much happiness and love. Katie also had dreams and plans for her future. She was planning on attending Brigham Young University with her older sister, looking forward to beginning that next chapter of her life along her best friend. Above all, Katie loved her faith. She loved going to church and reading her scriptures every day. Her relationship with God was an important part of who she was, and her faith could be seen in the way she lived her life. Katie was a wonderful example to those around her. She carried a light within her that touched the lives of others, and her kindness, faith, and loving spirit will never be forgotten. Katie's life was a gift, and she will be forever loved, remembered, and missed.

In addition to her father, Salvador, Katie is survived by a sister, Ruby Esmeralda Sebastian of the home; paternal grandparents, Abraham Sebastian Cruz and Cleotilde Vargas Nicolas of Michoacan, Mexico; her maternal grandparents, Marco Antonio Astorga Cortes and Adriana Ortiz Olvera of Mexico City, Mexico; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

In addition to her mother, Jazmin, Katie was preceded in death by her maternal great grandparents, Angel Castenada and Gloria Astorga Cortes and Aida Olvera Avila; and her paternal great grandparents, Victoriano Sebastian Apolinar and Abigail Cruz Ruiz and Casiano Vargas Rincon and Ermelinda Nicolas Hernandez.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p..m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at the Church Of Jesus Christ LDS with Paul Beard officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at Rea Funeral Chapel.

The burial will be at Knob Noster Cemetery, Knob Noster, MO.

Pallbearers will be Brian Astorga, Jonathan Astorga, Rutilio Sebastian, Osvaldo Sebastian, Gabriel Sebastian, and Brian Salmeron.

Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Hospital, Columbia, Missouri.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
