Katie Estrella Sebastian Astorga, de 18 años de edad, residente de Sedalia, Missouri, falleció el domingo 30 de agosto de 2026 en el Hospital de la Universidad de Missouri, en Columbia, Missouri. Nació el 28 de enero de 2008 en Minneapolis, Minnesota, hija de Salvador Sebastian, quien reside en Sedalia, y de Aris Jazmin Astorga, quien falleció anteriormente.

Katie era miembro de La Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días en Sedalia, Missouri, y cursaba su último año en Smith-Cotton High School.

Katie tenía una gran pasión por la belleza y la creatividad. Disfrutaba hacer manualidades, arreglar y decorar uñas, descubrir todo lo relacionado con la belleza y compartir momentos de su vida por medio de videos y vlogs. A través de todo lo que le gustaba hacer, Katie expresaba su creatividad y llenaba de alegría la vida de quienes la rodeaban.

Katie valoraba profundamente el tiempo que compartía con su familia y disfrutaba de esos momentos sencillos que hacen que la vida sea tan especial. Una de sus compañeras más queridas era su perrita Pom Pom, quien le brindaba muchísimo amor, compañía y felicidad.

Katie también tenía muchos sueños y planes para su futuro. Planeaba asistir a Brigham Young University junto con su hermana mayor y esperaba con mucha ilusión comenzar esa nueva etapa de su vida al lado de quien también era su mejor amiga.

Por encima de todo, Katie amaba profundamente su fe. Le gustaba asistir a la iglesia y leer las Escrituras todos los días. Su relación con Dios era una parte fundamental de su vida, y su fe se reflejaba en la manera en que vivía y trataba a los demás.

Katie fue un hermoso ejemplo para quienes tuvieron la dicha de conocerla. Llevaba dentro de sí una luz especial que tocó la vida de muchas personas. Además de su madre, Jazmin, Katie fue precedida en la muerte por sus bisabuelos maternos, Angel Castenada y Gloria Astorga Cortes, y Aida Olvera Avila; así como por sus bisabuelos paternos, Victoriano Sebastian Apolinar y Abigail Cruz Ruiz, y Casiano Vargas Rincon y Ermelinda Nicolas Hernandez.

Katie Estrella Sebastian Astorga, 18, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She was born on January 28, 2008, in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Salvador Sebastian, who resides in Sedalia and Aris Jazmin Astorga, who preceded her in death.

Katie was a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sedalia, Missouri. She was a Senior at Smith-Cotton High School. Katie had a passion for beauty and creativity. She loved doing crafts, nails, exploring all things beauty, creating crafts, and sharing pieces of her life through vlogging. Through the things she enjoyed, Katie expressed her creativity and brought joy to those around her. Katie cherished the time she spent with her family and treasured the simple moments that made life special. One of her greatest companions was her beloved dog, Pom Pom, who brought her so much happiness and love. Katie also had dreams and plans for her future. She was planning on attending Brigham Young University with her older sister, looking forward to beginning that next chapter of her life along her best friend. Above all, Katie loved her faith. She loved going to church and reading her scriptures every day. Her relationship with God was an important part of who she was, and her faith could be seen in the way she lived her life. Katie was a wonderful example to those around her. She carried a light within her that touched the lives of others, and her kindness, faith, and loving spirit will never be forgotten. Katie's life was a gift, and she will be forever loved, remembered, and missed.

In addition to her father, Salvador, Katie is survived by a sister, Ruby Esmeralda Sebastian of the home; paternal grandparents, Abraham Sebastian Cruz and Cleotilde Vargas Nicolas of Michoacan, Mexico; her maternal grandparents, Marco Antonio Astorga Cortes and Adriana Ortiz Olvera of Mexico City, Mexico; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

In addition to her mother, Jazmin, Katie was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, Angel Castenada and Gloria Astorga Cortes and Aida Olvera Avila; and her paternal great-grandparents, Victoriano Sebastian Apolinar and Abigail Cruz Ruiz and Casiano Vargas Rincon and Ermelinda Nicolas Hernandez.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p..m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at the Church Of Jesus Christ LDS with Paul Beard officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at Rea Funeral Chapel.

The burial will be at Knob Noster Cemetery, Knob Noster, MO.

Pallbearers will be Brian Astorga, Jonathan Astorga, Rutilio Sebastian, Osvaldo Sebastian, Gabriel Sebastian, and Brian Salmeron.

Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Hospital, Columbia, Missouri.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
