LaDonna June Hermanson, 80, of Sedalia, MO, passed away at her home on Friday, August 9, 2024. She was born on June 15, 1944, in Otterville, MO, the daughter of Charles A. Hopkins and Nadine Pearl (Oehrke) Hopkins, who preceded her in death.
On August 10, 1963, in Sedalia, MO, she was united in marriage to Gustaf H Hermanson, who resides in Columbia, SC.
LaDonna was a proud graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, Class of 1962, and a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church. She spent her early years in Otterville, MO, before settling in Sedalia, MO, where she lived most of her life. During her marriage, she briefly lived in Suitland, MD; Burlington, IL; and Springfield, IL. In her younger years, LaDonna worked at Lamy's in Sedalia. Later, while single-handedly raising her three sons, she balanced her responsibilities with jobs at Kim Originals, Archias Floral, Woods, and Fantasia Confections.
LaDonna was exceptionally talented in creating and designing floral arrangements and cakes for weddings and special occasions. Her work was not just a job but a passion that she poured her heart into. When convinced to join the family on camping trips, especially to Bennett Springs, it didn't take long for her to ask for a fishing pole so she could join in on the fun.
Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. LaDonna's face would light up whenever she talked about them, often bragging about their achievements in sports, academics, and life. She was immensely proud of each one of them.
Survivors include two sons, David Hermanson (Tammy) of Clinton, MO, and Brian Hermanson (Leah) of Sedalia; nine grandchildren, Trevor Hermanson, Cody Wissman, Logan Hermanson, Mikayla Pery Iturralde, Drew Hermanson, Dalton T. Hermanson, Camden Gear, Alyssa Hermanson, and Brylee Hermanson; and a sister, Patricia Copas of Edmond, OK.
In addition to her parents, LaDonna was preceded in death by a son, Steve Hermanson, and a brother, Dave Hopkins.
A memorial graveside service and burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Highland Sacred Gardens, with Pastor John Hanson officiating.
Arrangements are in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
