Larry James Murphy Sr.

Larry James Murphy Sr., 79, of Sedalia, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2025, at his home. He was born on January 8, 1946, in Sheffield, England, to Albert James Murphy and Nora Lillian (Noble) Murphy, both of whom preceded him in death.

Larry attended Smith-Cotton High School and graduated with a G.E.D. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. He enjoyed gambling and spending time at the tavern with friends, listening to music, discussing food, and reminiscing about the good old times. He retired as a painter for the Union.

Larry was married to Donna Prall, and they had one son, Larry Murphy II. He is also survived by two grandsons, Larry III and Blayde Allen; four great-grandsons, Ryder, Chance, Xavier, and Jeremiah; and his two beloved dogs, Freedom and Rosie.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Church On The Move, located at 2805 S. Ohio St., Sedalia, MO.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
