Larry Jay Yunt, 81, of Sedalia, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was born November 27, 1944, in Norton, Kansas, the son of Harold Yunt and Mildred (Gregory) Yunt Salecki, both of whom preceded him in death.

Larry was a proud graduate of Green Ridge High School, Class of 1962, and always looked forward to attending his class reunions and reconnecting with former classmates.

Following high school, Larry enlisted in the United States Navy and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Priscilla McCoy, and together they welcomed their daughter, Pamela.

Throughout his life, Larry was a man of many interests and talents. He had a passion for coaching softball and expected the very best from his players, always encouraging them to work hard and give their all. In his younger years, Larry enjoyed the excitement of sprint car racing as a driver.

He loved country music and dancing, playing cards, and supporting local sports. Larry especially enjoyed watching area athletes compete and was a familiar face at many local sporting events.

Larry also had a strong interest in politics and was a proud member of the Democratic National Committee. He was a member of Sedalia Moose Lodge #1494 and Warsaw American Legion Post #217.

A talented carpenter and craftsman, Larry owned and operated Larry Yunt Construction in Sedalia. His skill, hard work, and craftsmanship could be seen in the many projects he completed throughout the years.

Above all else, Larry loved his family, especially his grandchildren. The time he spent with those closest to him was deeply important, and his family and friends will remember his personality, his many interests, and the memories they shared with him.

Larry was also the grateful recipient of a liver transplant, a gift that held special meaning in his life. In keeping with that spirit of giving, Larry himself chose to be an organ and tissue donor, helping others through the gift of donation.

Survivors include his daughter, Pam Eddy (Joe) of Marshall; a stepdaughter, Sherri Prather (Alan) of Sedalia; and three grandchildren, Brandi Eddy, Brady Eddy, and Lance Estes.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Yunt.

Private graveside services with full military honors conducted by the United States Navy and VFW Post #2591 will be held at a later date at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held for family and friends at the Sedalia Moose Lodge, with the date and time to be announced.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
