Obituary For Laura Ann Griffin

Laura Ann Griffin, 82, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Lincoln Community Care Center in Lincoln, MO. She was born on April 14, 1941, in Sedalia, the daughter of Edward and Agnes (Young) Miller, who preceded her in death.

Laura was a 1959 Smith-Cotton High School graduate. She worked at Third National Bank for over 30 years and later retired. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed traveling to Vegas with her sisters often. She loved country music and Western movies. She always got front-row seats when George Strait was at the State Fair. She was a social butterfly who loved to tell jokes. She was well known for her angel food cakes. She loved to cook for her family, especially desserts. She loved to play cards with her family, mostly pitch, and was super competitive.

Laura is survived by a daughter, Lisa and Randy Scotten of Green Ridge, MO; son, Todd Griffin of Thunderbolt, GA; four grandchildren, Cristin and Michael Berry, Nicholas and Heather Moriarty, Benjamin and Danielle Scotten, and Daniel Scotten; nine great-grandchildren, Zachary, Gibson, Ford, Lindsey, Eli, and Roy Berry, Owen and Evan Moriarty, and Hayes Scotten; one great-grandchild on the way, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Besides her parents, Laura is preceded in death by her three brothers, two sisters, two nephews, and a daughter-in-law, Ayn Griffin.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery, Sedalia, with pastor Candace Fowler officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
